Geography of Ufrain

Broadly, Ufrain is divided into three distinct kingdoms. Riordan is situated within the Northern Kingdom, colloquially referred to as “The North”, but often named for its current ruler, House Corvo. The Northern Kingdom is cold and hilly, with numerous mountain ranges, alpine forests and tundra. While not particularly hospitable, the lands of the north are rich in resources and strategically advantageous. The Northern Kingdom spans an enormous area, approximately 5 million square miles. Its territory is cut off to the north by a barren and inhospitable badland stretching seemingly infinitely northwards, and to the west by sea.
The Southern Kingdom, known as Braga, shares a loosely defined border with the north and spans an area of around 4 million square miles. At its border it is hilly and mediterranean, and becomes progressively hotter and more tropical the further south you go. Braga is cut off to the south and west by sea.
To the east of both Braga and Corvo lies a thick wall of fog, beyond which few who venture have returned. Precisely what exists within this realm is unclear, but all reports have confirmed that it is unpleasant and deadly. However, by circumnavigation by sea, through the badlands, through the sky or, rarely, magical teleportation, contact has in the past century been made with the other side. There resides a third kingdom, colloquially known as “The East” but officially named Khudora. The people of Khudora are dark skinned and hardy, generally living a harsher and more violent existence than those from the north or south. The east is a land of violently temperamental weather and terrain, spanning from bleached deserts to rocky canyons to sweaty marshes. Its exact extents are unknown, but it is rumoured to be larger than the north and south combined.
